Visiting Guidelines

Visiting Hours

We encourage family and friends to visit patients during their stay at Pennock. We do request that visitors depart at 8 p.m. each evening as patients need time to rest and recover. Please limit the number of people visiting at one time and keep visits short. Family Lounges are available for those waiting to see patients.


Nurses may restrict the number of visitors based on the patient’s condition or procedures that must be performed. Please respect visiting restrictions and nursing staff. Pennock strives to provide the best care possible - nurses have the patient’s interest at heart.

• Do not visit if you have a sore throat, fever, or feel as if you may be getting sick. Patients may easily catch colds, flu, or other illnesses from visitors.
• All children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult and never left unattended. Any visitors that require special care, or a caregiver, must be accompanied by that caregiver at all times
• Please be quiet.
• Dress appropriately, which includes wearing shirts and shoes.
• Please discard your empty beverage and food containers.
• The hospital will not accept responsibility for family or visitor belongings.

 

Overnight Visitors

Some patient care units may allow one adult family member to spend the night. Any family member planning to stay overnight should speak with the patient’s primary nurse. Please consider the importance of the patient’s need to rest before planning to stay.
Overnight visitors must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Gifts and Flowers for Patients

For health and safety reasons, check with the patient’s nurse before bringing food, beverages, flowers and plants, or gifts to the patient. Latex balloons are not allowed because of potential life threatening allergic reactions may occur.

 

Pennook Gift Shop

Pennock Volunteers operate a well-stocked gift shop on the ground floor inside the Pennock Pharmacy. The Gift Shop offers magazines, cards, assorted gift items, stamps, and snacks. The gift shop is open weekdays from 9:00 am - 7:30 pm, and on weekends from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

 

Green Street Café/Food Services

The Green Street Cafe’ is located on the west side of the hospital on the first floor. Our cafe’ is open seven days a week to visitors and staff. Meals are served at the following times:

Breakfast 6:30 am - 10:30 am
Lunch 11:30 am - 1 :30 pm
Dinner 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Beverages, snacks and light meal selections are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week in the vending area located on the main floor near the west entrance of the hospital. The vending area also includes a microwave. Vending service is accessible 24 hours a day.

 

Guest Meals

Visitors who do not wish to visit the Green Street Cafe’ may order a guest meal for $5.65 (x1372). A general meal will be sent to the floor along with the patient’s. Cash payment is due at time of delivery or credit cards can be taken in advance at the cash register in the cafe’. All payments should be in cash and can be given directly to your nurse. We are sorry, but the nursing staff ins unable to accept credit or debit payments. Please be considerate of any dietary restrictions the patient may have and honor the patient’s written diet order.

*At Your Request Room Service is also available for visiting guests and family members. Meal vouchers may be purchased in the Green Street Cafe’. If further assistance is needed, dial extension 3663.

Vending Area

Beverages, snacks and light meal selections are available in the vending area located on the west side of the hospital. The vending area also includes a microwave. Vending service is accessible 24 hours a day.

 

Internet Access

Pennock is pleased to provide our patients, visitors, and guests with free internet access throughout the hospital. Informational brochures are available in family waiting areas. Public computers are also available in the patient registration area on the first floor.

 

Cell Phones

Cell phones and other wireless devices may be used in most patient care areas. As Pennock Hospital is a place of healing, please place phones and wireless devices in silent or vibrate mode while in the hospital. In areas where there is a potential risk to medical equipment from cell phone interference, no cell phone usage signs are posted. Before using your cell phone or wireless device in any clinical unit, patients and visitors should verify usage guidelines with Pennock staff. Staff may direct users to turn off devices or to move to a different area if usage is deemed as a potential risk.

 

No Smoking

All Pennock Health Services properties are smoke-free environments. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premise or in the adjoining parking lots. Visitors must leave the campus before smoking.
