Pennock Hospice
"You matter because of who you are. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can , not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die." --Dame Cicely Saunders

Pennock Hospice offers a comprehensive program of personal, compassionate, quality care to patients and families facing a life threatening illness. Pennock provides personalized services and a caring community so that patients and families can attain the necessary preparation for those who have a limited life expectancy.

Pennock Hospice is a compassionate approach to care whose goal is to embrace people into our Pennock family, help people with serious illness live life fully, maintain their dignity and keep control over their lives. In medieval times, Hospices were known as inns of rest, which "lodged, cherished and refreshed" the Crusader, the sick and the dying. Today, Pennock Hospice carries on this theme by providing medical care, emotional, and spiritual support to people and their families facing life-limiting illness in homes, our hospital, adult facilities, nursing homes, group homes and personal area residents. Pennock Hospice is available to any one with an illness whose life expectancy is measured in months, rather than years.

Hospice Admission Criteria

“Hospice” is an ancient term referring to a refuge for weary travelers. Today, hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care for patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Hospice is considered to be the model for quality compassionate care at the end of life. This philosophy focuses on palliative care for comfort management, quality of life and individualized treatment. Pennock Hospice focuses on the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, and the hope that our loved ones will receive the support to allow us to do so.

Embracing Hope

Embracing Hope is a flower project of the Volunteer Services of Pennock Hospice to brighten the day of Pennock Hospice patients and bereaved families to let them know they are not alone through life’s journey. The project is supported by flower donations from Barry County florists, local flower growers, following weddings, funerals, or banquet gatherings, and donations from the community.
