Volunteer at Pennock

Time...It’s most valuable when shared with others.

Once an individual has decided to give their time as a volunteer, Volunteer Services works with volunteers for placement in an assignment that meets interests, schedules, and the Hospital’s needs. The availability of some volunteer positions is dependent upon the needs of the hospital.

Following are some general examples of volunteer assignments that may or may not work within individual schedules. Volunteers are used during week days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Penn-Nook volunteers work on the weekends as well.

Our Volunteer Opportunities

Escort Volunteer
To assist the Nursing and Hospital Colleagues as needed through wheelchair transporting, sorting and delivering mail, flowers, etc.

 

Courier Volunteer
To assist the Hospital Colleagues by delivering items to and from hospital departments.

 

Clinical Volunteer
The volunteer is stationed on the Unit to help patients with opening and reading mail, making telephone calls, provide non-nursing assistance, as requested, by the nursing colleagues.

 

Hospice Volunteer

Volunteers go into homes to sit with the patient and visit, allow them to talk about their life and past experiences, read to them, run simple errands, play cards or other games and provide support to the patient and family. Some volunteers offer to do light housework or prepare a meal to give the family some respite. Volunteers develop special, cherished relationships that are very meaningful and help the patient and family cope.

 

Gift Shop Volunteer
The Penn-Nook Gift Shop is a retail store operated by volunteers.
The hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
The shop is closed on Sundays and holidays.

 

Sewing Volunteer
To sew and make needed items for the hospital.

 

Junior Volunteer
High school students have an opportunity to volunteer during the summer months while the adult volunteers take some time off. Junior volunteers are used most generally as an
